Surprise

It may come as a surprise to
those who don’t know the work
you’ve been putting in.
The minutes turned into days,
weeks, and sometimes years.

Overnight,
another word for
overtime.
Daybreak,
another word for
the big break.

It may come as a surprise to
the ones who told you to give up,
you’re wasting your time.
A time or two that
voice being your own.

It’s no surprise to
those who know you best.
They helped you
see your potential
even when you couldn’t.
They pushed you
when you felt like
giving up.

It all paid off
and this is only
the beginning.
