Our Voices
Our voices make a sound,
even when there’s no one
around to hear the stories
that the tones tell.
One day, sitting in silence,
the suffering became so loud that
we only spoke up to drown out the noise.
A whisper from our younger selves
was the voice we didn’t know we needed.
Sometimes we allow
fear to quiet our voices.
Sometimes we allow doubt
to silence our voices.
Sometimes we allow
ourselves the grace to
keep using our voices.
