Walks in the Park

Sometimes walks in the park
begin with the intentions
of running timed laps.
The expectation of different
results than the last time.
Preparing for the big race
when the sound of birds chirping
reminds you of great conversations.
The blooming flowers reminds
you that things take time.
Life is a marathon not a sprint.
The breeze blowing against
your face reminding you to smile.
Sometimes a walk in the park is
all you needed to get back in the race.
