Helping Hand

That person we walk past on the street
might be standing there waiting on you
to show them some kindness.
Ignored by everyone else because
they don’t recognize their value
or see their potential.

They may not see it themselves.

It’s easy to move through life only
caring about what’s right in front of us,
but when’s the last time we
looked to our left or looked to our right?
When’s the last time we
slowed down our fast paced lives
and actually enjoyed the journey?

That person we walk past
may need to see us smile
at them so they will know
that hope still exists.
We are all on different paths
but sometimes we meet each other
on the same journey.

  1. This was a lovely piece! So much to explore! Our humanity is at stake but we will shine bright, one smile at a time. Thank you for reminding us to always be a helping hand even if it’s as simple as a smile. This was beautifully written and provoked thoughtful conversation around this topic. Kindness…such a deep, complex, beautiful word that holds so much weight in our world today. This was a refreshing reminder to help hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Thank you for blessing the world with your pen… Keep up the amazing work!
